Poem for Grandad - By Connie Short

Created by Kerry 4 years ago
Now you are a star in the sky Grandad
My bestest ever friend,
Even though you are no longer here
Your legacy will never end.

You always reminded us of a cat
As it seemed you had 9 lives,
The angels in heaven won’t know what’s hit them
When the most famous legend arrives.

You lit up any room you were in
Your sense of humour was the best,
To be one of your five grandchildren
I feel truly blessed.

You used to paint my nails
Oh, grandad you could do it all,
I will miss on a Saturday morning
Giving you a call.

Only Fools and Horses
Was your favourite thing to watch on telly,
But the most precious thing
Was listening to you laugh till it hurt your belly.

You always supported the Irish
As you were a patriotic man,
You loved to watch all sports
You were such a big fan.

Your big blue eyes
Were brighter than the sky,
I hope your happy in heaven
Where your flying high.

Grandad you are now an angel
What a beautiful one you are,
You will always be in my heart
So at least I know you’re not far.

I love you so much
Goodbyes are not forever,
I will miss you for life
Until one day we are together.
